Week 11- Product Concepts

Let's consider one of the best smelly and popular parfumes from Juicy Couture.--Viva La Juicy--

Viva La Juicy is a product item of Juicy Couture. It comes in different sizes. Such a things in Juicy Couture for example; t-shirts, dresses, coats, bags all of them are different product items. For general we can call them product mix that Juicy Couture has.
Viva La Juicy is a speciality product and shopping product. As we know there are two types of shopping products. For example; i want a parfume this is an homogeneous shopping product, but if i tell to you i want juicy Couture parfume we call it heterogeneous shopping product. In heterogeneous shopping, you specify it more.
Viva La juicy is a global brand. It is very popular in many countries. And many people crazy about Viva La Juicy.Juicy Couture also has other parfumes.Either they smell different and their packing is totally different.

There are many reasons for packing product.many people buy these fancy packed Juicy couture perfumes. After the perfume is finished, girls mostly use it as a jewellery box or a box for their head bands etc.
Review about Viva La Juicy
As we see packing has big effect on sales.

BANNED! Pepsi vs. Coke

This video is a great example of Comparative Advertising between Pepsi and Coca Cola.It was made by Pepsi. And in the commercial, a little boy tries to buy Pepsi from the vending machine, but he is too short to reach it,so first he buys 2 can of Coca Cola whose button is reachable. Then he uses two cans of coke as a step to reach the Pepsi button. In the video, the little boy takes the Coca Cola cans under his feet therefore this video banned. It is a great example of Comparative Advertising .

Juicy Couture is a sponsorship of "Hope Shining"

I am happy, though my company is socially responsible. They provide happiness to the children to our futures.

Week 9 - Advertising and Public Relations

As I see Juicy Couture mostly use Internet advertising(they put adds.to their web-page) and also Juicy Couture sends thousands of free outfits to the famous celebrities like Britney Spears and Madonna also fashion editors and stylists every year.Juicy Couture never uses traditional advertising.
Occasionally,Juicy Couture plans organizations or cocktails to remind customers its product.Juicy Couture particularly uses pink color and also colorful advertisements.Juicy Couture uses both product advertising and instituonal advertising.
(A product advertising)

Juicy Couture creates an unique selling proposition for everyy collection. The main Juicy Couture slogan is "Made in the Glamorous America".Actually, slyly they uses comparative advertising. As we know many people don't like to buy any product which made in China so, in that slogan Juicy Couture indicates that its products made in America. Also there are their some slogans which they created for every collection."For Nice Girls Who Like Stuff" , "Eat Candy" , "Smells like Couture" , " Wake Up And Smell The Couture" , Peace,Love and Couture".

Juicy Couture is a sponsorship company for " Hope Shinning" which based on to protect children. It is also other kind of advertising and a duty for public relations.

Gela and Pamela girls who were the resent owners of Juicy Couture designed all appeals. The important point is,They didnt care about consumer desire, they just designed what they wanted to see in their closets. It really worked out for a long time. They sold Juicy Couture track-suits to many people even celebrities.
Madonna with her Juicy track-suits
Well, after recession Liz Claiborne bought  Juicy Couture.Still the head designers were Gela and Pamela but recently upscale department stores started to complain and drop their Juicy Collection because of the stale Juicy Couture styles. Then almost a month ago Liz Claiborne kicked out the recent designers of Juicy Couture and hired American Eagle's head designer.

I hope it will be a new start for Juicy Couture. Many people got bored because of Juicy Couture's same collections.

GOOD LUCK JUICY!!

Juicy Couture Hires American Eagle's Head Designer

If you love Juicy Couture’s velour track suits–no judging, we promise–but find $196 price tag a bit jarring, good news:

Liz Claiborne, the company that now owns Juicy Couture and kicked out founders Gela Nash and Pamela, has hired American Eagle’s chief design officer LeAnn Nealz to head up the brand, reports WWD .
It can be deduced that her role will not only be to update the brand’s image, but also to make it even more mass than it already is. Which hopefully means slightly lower prices.

Prior to American Eagle, Nealz worked at Gap, Banana Republic, Nine West, Theory, and Ck Jeans. So her experience is in mass market retail. Much like Deborah Lloyd, who has successfully maintained the DNA of the Kate Spade brand (also owned by Liz Claiborne) while keeping the prices moderate and expanding its reach, Nealz’s job will be to freshen up the Juicy look, while making it easier for more people to buy more pieces.
Designer Erin Fetherson, who’s been working with the brand since the spring, will end her creative consultancy at the end of 2011.

Week 7-Consumer Decision Making

Gela and Pamela who were the designer and previous owners of Juicy Couture. They designed dresses, shoes, tracksuits and many things. And while they design these apparels, they didn't care customer demand. They just designed what they wanted to see on their own closets. And they reached the success with that way.For every collection,Gela and Pamela produced slogans and symbols. It attract customers a lot.People buy from the collection which slogan has the right meaning for them.
Juicy Couture is an upscale brand therefore, mostly wealth people purchase. One basic t-shirst is around $70.Juicy Couture is not selling in Middle Easy.As we know in Middle East the religion is Islam, so it is hard to sell muslim people mini skirts, colorful bags or transparant shirts.

From peers, children and adolescents clearly acquire expressive aspects of consumer behaviour by developing consciousness of the product social value," they noted. "Part of this expressive learning is the attention adolescents pay to brands and the formation of their brand preferences in clothing. Those teenagers who interact more with peers about consumer matters present a decision making style that is brand oriented." Rather than obtain a pair of jeans because they like them, a vast number of young people (including many a guilty party here at McGill) are forking over the cash so that they can fulfill a desired social perception. Really, would you be paying $250 for the celebrity-favoured Seven Jeans if they weren't the spite-fueled envy of all of your friends?

Juicy Couture are considered to be wealthy and snobby, supposedly concerned with fashion trends.

Week 6- Global Marketing

If the world seems to be getting juicier,it may not be due to global warming. It may be due to global wearing—of Juicy Couture the white-hot fashion empire.
Juicy Couture is everywhere. It’s casual and cocktail; sunglasses and shoes; men, women, and children. It’s equal parts class and stores can’t get enough of it. Reese, Gwyneth, Madonna, Brad, Kevin, and Ben all wear Juicy.

CORPORATE IRRESPONSIBILITY

 BLOOD IN YOUR COFFEE

Money isn’t everything – or is it? To most corporations, making a profit is goal number one – but some of those companies take it way too far, sacrificing the health of the planet and its inhabitants for a bigger bank balance.  Far too many corporations turn a blind eye to the consequences of their destructive, exploitative practices. The worst of them are committing atrocities that go beyond the realm of objectionable into criminal, dumping toxic chemicals without regard to public health and employing child labor.

NESTLE

More than 40% of the world’s chocolate comes from Côte d’Ivoire (the Ivory Coast) in Africa, where tens of thousands of children are estimated to be working in dangerous conditions on cocoa farms. Nestle uses cocoa harvested by slave labor and only when Senator Thomas Harkin (D-Iowa) led an investigation and introduced legislation that would require chocolate sold in the US to be labeled “slave-free” did the company act. Nestle promised that by July 2005 they would find a way to certify chocolate as not having been produced by any underage, indentured, trafficked or coerced labor, but since then, they have achieved very little.

Nestle’s bottled water business is also a major cause for consern. Nestle controls one-third of the US market and sells 70 different brand names of bottled water including Arrowhead, Deer Park, Perrier and Poland Spring. The company buys up pristine springs in some of the most beautiful natural spaces in America and builds huge factories on the sites, releasing pollution into the air and drawing enormous amounts of water out of the springs.

And, while the company claims an environmentally friendly ethic, saying it would never harm an aquifer, that’s exactly what they have done in places like Michigan damaging the watershed with excessive withdrawals, reaping huge profits and leaving the locals to deal with the consequences.

Pamela and Gela Nash established the Juicy Couture in 1995.In 13 years, Pamela and Gela Nash designed and carried out the company very well. They sold apparels, parfums, watches many people all around the world.
In 2008, when death wind came to the America it also crashed to the Juicy Couture.Gela and Pamela have affected a lot in the recession. They didn't stand on more and Juicy Couture handed down company to the Liz Claiborne.Liz Claiborne is reported to have sold 258 $ worth of Juicy Couture product in the forst six months of 2008.

Department Stores Dropping Juicy Couture for Fall

Beginning of this year department stores like Century 21 started to complain about Juicy couture's stale styles.Of course, Juicy Couture took into account those complaints and hired a new designer Eric Fetherston to design new clothes for holiday season, but i guess it is already too late. Many of the major retailers dropped the Juicy Couture clothing or cut back orders for fall season.

*Saks Fifth Avenue dropped the line at the New York Flagship for Fall
*Bloomingdale's cut way back on its Juicy Department at contemporary floor
*Bergdorf Goodman No longer carries the line.
*Century 21,i have been there just couple of days ago and before there were a lot of Juicy Designs but now just sweat Suits.I am sure right now everyone has that basic Juicy Couture Sweatsuits.

EXCERPT: The company president said that his goal is just to keep the label profitable, so only about ten to twenty new stores will open each year, while the men’s, yoga, and maternity categories are eliminated, along with 70 stores. So that's a start. Can you think of a man, woman, or yoga person who wants "JUICY" across their butts? Actually, maybe that would be popular somewhere like MIAMI or the DAVID BARTON GYM(Gay Gym)
